Leaking oil cooler <> 2012 - 178,000 miles - Most the videos I see the cooler is removed, cleaned up and the gaskets are replaced and re-installed. That was my plan - however, my general mechinic is telling me I should replace the whole thing because more than likely it's "wrapped". Is it mostly the gasket? Or is it better a safe than sorry and replace it all? Thoughts?

Usually it's just the o-rings that leak, but because of the way the coolers are constructed, it can be hard to tell if the body is leaking without putting pressure on it. So there's a good chance you can get away with simply replacing the o-rings and cleaning it out, but you won't know for certain until it leaks or doesn't after repair. I usually give my customers the same advice as your mechanic, just replace it and avoid the possibility of having to do it twice.
