Howdy Folks,
28 year old living here in Dallas, Texas and new owner of a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5s! I've actually have never owned my own car, believe it or not, but I'm excited to learn as much as I can.
I certainly want to trick it out eventually, but it'll be a little a time, but I'm anxious...I see quite a bit of folks pictures and I think I can get tons of great tips from you guys.
What I'm here for...
My car has 124,000 miles and was owned by a young man in Houston, Texas. I'm pretty confident thinking that it wasn't maintained as best as it could, but I want to be able to keep it a very long time if I can. It's had an oil change and was told (by a dealership) that I need a drive belt and filter when they did the oil change. I did the air filter for $10 myself, quite surprised w/ how easy it was. I'll probably get the belt done this week. The check engine light is on and was told by AutoZone w/ the codes that popped up that it needs electrical work. So nervous about the possible cost
If any of you are in the Dallas area and can suggest a mechanic in the area, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't necessarily need cheap, but I don't want to pay dealership prices...but then again, thinking I could get a peace of mind by just taking it to one. It will just take me a long time due to budget constraints.
One other concern is there is this engine rattle that's more prominent in cold weather and low speeds. I can feel the acceleration during low speeds being a bit jumpy too. After doing some googling, I think it may be heat shields, I'll see what the dealership has to say...unless any of you have any suggestions!
I really would like the rattling gone and then maybe some struts/shocks or something, the ride is a bit rough (tire maintenance light is on as well).
Ok, feel like I've given too much to this just being an introduction, can't wait to get my feet wet!
