Nissan makes money off of their faulty transmissions. Do you really think a salesman will tell you the honest truth, when they make their salary by selling Altimas, and .aximas, which used to be great cars. Lots of car makers make cvt transmissions. They have been around since the 1900's in tractors. Nissan sesigned a part that mysteriously goes bad in these cars for 15 yrs. Do even know 4-5 people that know what a cvt transmission is? Because until i had this problem as well, and it lead to an early end to my 2007 altima. The bottom line is this. You must spend 5000 dollars to get this tranmission fixed. If you buy a used one, not many transmission guys will even look at it. This is a car that must have the fluid, and noot 1 , but 2 filters changed every 30,000 miles or your tranmission will puke. Buy a used one and have someone put it in for you. 1000 for the tranny. 3000 at leaast in labor to install, and no mechanic in their right mind will honor someone elses warranty. So go spend it at the dealership, pay the same amount, and hope it is under warranty from the dealership when it sh@#ts the bed.
