Electrical issues seemingly related to the electric power steering system

2015 5th gen Altima - I have some strange electrical issues that can be replicated by turning the steering wheel all the way to one side or the other. When I do this, the lights on the dash go out and all of the dash memory resets like the fuel consumption stats, the radio turns off and back on and the power steering goes away for a couple seconds. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this?

Check the ground lug on your Power Steering Unit (on the righthand hood ledge, it's a dedicated ground wire), the lugs on your battery ground cable (one to the chassis underneath the battery tray and another on the end of the transmission), and all the lugs at the battery, including the 12mm nuts holding the lugs to the cables. Also check the fusible link card at the battery and make sure it isn't cracked in the middle.

Did you ever figure out this problem ? I have a 2015 Altima that the power steering randomly goes out completely. Then randomly starts working again. I replaced the PS pump with a salvage yard one and it worked fine for about 3-4 months - then again started doing the same thing. I think this is an electrical problem but haven't figured it out yet. Took it to the dealer when the PS pump was working fine and they found code U1001 but wanted to do a 3 hour diagnosis for $600 (which I declined).

Seems pretty similar to what I have going on. My dash is going black, accept the battery and brake symbols and the car loses power for a minute or completely dies. Curious if you ever figured out what was causing it.

The problem with this site is no one looks at it after they fix their car and things are working normally. We only come here when we have a problem. Lol
