2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE and the only two engine mods that I have done are the "Nismo CAI" and the "AT Grounding Kit". I started to notice my idle dropping below 700 to around 500ish makn it shake but then goes back up. It does this when I'm sitting at a light or something. This morning my engine light comes on, I scan it and get P1402. I cant get much info on it except that its "EGR" related. Now, does any1 know what steps I should take to figure this out. Or perhaps I should bring it to my dealer as I'm under warranty and this "might" be covered. Any help would be great, thanks!

That code means your EGR valve is stuck open or leaking. Also check for vacuum leaks with a can of injector cleaner. You might have to replace the EGR valve if there aren't any leaks. Also could be an open or shorted wire in the harness going to the EGR valve. Another thing it could be is an EGR temperature sensor failing. Basicly what that code says is that there is EGR flow when there shouldn't be. The ECM detects it and sets the code.

Thank you very much. Today I have time to firther inspect the issue and will post an update. If I get to the conclusion that I do need to replace the egr valve then I'm keeping my appointment with Nissan because this should definately be covered under my warranty. Ive only had the car 5 months!

Finally, Warranty Paid off!

So yeah, took the car in to have it checked out by Nissan. Turned out that my EGR valve was shot and my catalytic convertor was malfunctioning. All covered by warranty. So i'm a little happier now. Thanks for the help guys.
